Genisis at the El Portal Theatre

A good friend of mine, Stefani, invited me along to shoot a tribute band a friend of hers was in, Genisis. It was at the El Portal theatre in N. Hollywood, CA. The lighting was amazing so we were able to get some pretty awesome shots. Every time the colored lights started to flash I picked my camera up and started shooting away. So when I got home I had hundreds of similar photos, but I wanted to catch as much of the changes in light as possible. You can never take too many pictures with digital! Something I had trouble shooting was the drummer. I felt so bad that I couldn't even get a descent shot of him. Every angle I tried I couldn't get up high enough to shoot over the drums. It would have been great if I could have been right up on stage taken pictures! ;)

Beautiful Headshots

I shot with KrisD Mauga, a lifestyle photographer, www.krashingmotions.com, for headshot portraits for an awesome client of hers, Jen. It was my first time shooting with KrisD as well as working with a client. For previous shoots and school projects I have used my friends and family. The shoot went great! I was able to shadow KrisD and also take pictures of my own which was a lot of fun. Jen was very laid back and made it very easy for us to shoot. She looked beautiful and we got so many great shots. Great Experience!

Bowser

Ever since I moved away from home to California, I always told myself over and over that I wanted a dog. After moving into my second apartment and living on my own, I contemplated if it was that time to get a dog or not. I felt that I needed a little companion to come home to everyday. I knew it would be a lot of work to have a puppy on my own, but deep down I knew its what I really wanted. After lots of searching I finally found the little guy I that I wanted to make my own. He was flown in from Orlando, FL the day he turned 8 weeks. I had him fly in to Las Vegas so my friends and family could see him the same weekend. I remember when I first pulled him out of the kennel he was so scared! But omg was he so small and adorable. When we got him home all he wanted to do was lay in my lap. I'm sure the poor little guy had a traumatic experience with the flight! He wouldn't even walk on his own. He would start to cry when you started to walk away from him. But after a few days he snapped out of his jet lag and was a very playful little puppy! Everyone couldn't get enough of him. I'm excited about my new life with my little puppy =)

Life in Someone Else's Shoes.

For a Photojournalism class, our biggest assignment was to produce a photo essay. I had done a photo essay in the past for another class, so I really had to think of something that I felt would top my last one. Throughout my search I came across a down syndrome association website located in Orange County. I became very intrigued to do a project on this sort of subject and the more I thought about it, the more I was compelled to do it. I came in contact with the manager of the association (Kristin) and we met in person to explain my project and what I wanted to do. She seemed more than happy to allow me to conduct a photo essay about the association. She went over different events that I could shoot and one specific event she was thrilled to have a photographer for. She says it was her favorite event of the year, The Red Carpet Ball. She was also able to get me in contact with an involved mom (Sandra) who had a 16 year old son (Sean) with down syndrome. Sandra was able to give me access to other events that involved other teens with disabilities. Before I knew it I found myself working on three separate projects, events for the down syndrome association, teens with disabilities, and an individual project on Sean. This was such an amazing experience for me and allowed me to be apart of something so special. The interaction I had with everyone was incredible. I got to be apart of something that not everyone gets to experience everyday. These kids always put a smile on my face. Through my pictures I feel that I was able to show so many of my friends, family, and classmates how we are all so similar and doing whatever we can to enjoy our life! Thank to everyone who was apart of this amazing experience!
